Urban Portraiture is a title I give to a shot where I have managed to get close enough to someone on the Street to make capture at least their head and shoulders. It is normally a challenge to get this type of agreement but well worth the effort. Having got permission you really need to nail the shot or suffer the frustration later.
Sometimes the first image you take is the best one. I build up to a street photography session by viewing inspirational images from photographers I admire , but when it comes down to it you need to see images in your mind as you walk around and particularly when you depress the shutter. This image appeared before me but I was in the wrong position and had to quickly walk up behind the bike. The dog turned his head just at the right time or did I depress the shutter at the right time ?
